Rival is very robust, even in a corrupted environment or other critical situations. Some hardware or software problems may, however, affect its operation.
To track down a hardware problem, try using Rival with the hardware turned on, and with it turned off. To track down a software problem, use Rival with and without the software in question. It’s possible that some Startup files (also known as INITs) may not be compatible with Rival, especially ones that are unsupported or in the public domain.
In the unlikely case where Rival emits a corruption sound at startup, or when the frame does not appear in the Apple menu, enter Rival’s Vaccines mode, in the Control Panel, which will indicate if no vaccines are installed, or if some of them have been corrupted. In either case, you should reinstall Rival again (refer to the “Installing Rival” section), as well as any additional vaccines you’ve received since acquiring Rival.
